I was recently invited to join Winston Rod Company's prestigious Advisory Team. Thus far, the "Green Team" consists of legendary saltwater guide Bruce Chard, scandi casting guru Andre Scholz and the first lady of fly fishing, Joan Wulff.
I'm headed back east to The Northern Angler Fly Shop in Traverse City, Mi. this weekend to give a Spey Clinic. Although my classes are full, stop by the Fly Fishing Film Tour on Friday night or enter the second annual carp tournament on Saturday if you're in the area. For more information, check out the Northern Angler Facebook page.
Welcome to the new Larimer Outfitters website and blog. Outside of showcasing my guided fly fishing trips, Spey instruction and hosted travel, you’ll find tons of useful fly fishing tips on my new blog.
If you truly want to take your Spey casting ability to a higher level, consider private lessons with Tom Larimer. Tom's unique style of instruction coupled with a huge passion for helping people become better Spey casters has made him one of the most revered Spey casting instructors in the country.
Tom Larimer owns and operates Larimer Outfitters, a fly fishing only guide service out of Hood River, Oregon. He calls the Deschutes River home from the beginning of trout season in April until the weather gets too cold to Spey cast in November. His steelhead jet boat camps are legendary. Once the snow flies, Tom’s focus shifts to guiding the winter steelhead rivers of northern Oregon. Depending on the conditions, you might find him floating the Sandy, jet boating on the Clackamas or hiking into the Hood.
Larimer Outfitters hosts world-class fly fishing adventures to some of the finest destinations. Although I do not guide on these trips (I do give casting instruction and fishing tips), I’m there to ensure your trip goes smoothly from beginning to end. Think of me as your personal fishing & travel coach.
My good friend Jeff Mishler from New Water Media is the man behind the extremely popular Skagit Master Series of videos. Jeff was gracious enough to invite me to be a part of the newest addition to the series, Skagit Master 3. The video will focus on fly tying, and the philosophies of the tiers. My segment will include my Reverse Marabou and Loop Leech. Look for the video to be available sometime this winter.
