Alaska kings are big, mean and yes... Mega fun!

My annual pilgrimage to Alaska is just a few short weeks away! The group of anglers I'm taking with me are getting stoked to do battle with ocean bright kings on the Sandy River. Now is a good time to start thinking about fishing Alaska's Sandy River with me in 2016.

Please send me an email if you would like to be on the wait list for my upcoming trip in 2016.

That was a long time ago...

I was digging through my vault of old photos and stumbled on this shot of yours truly with a Kasilof River King circa mid nineties. I was in my mid twenties and working for the Kenai River Sport Fishing Lodge in Cooper Landing, Alaska. Its always nice to be reminded of a simlper time in life.

Finding a Happy Place With Kings

Back in Anchorage

The flight from western Alaska to Anchorage gave me some time to reflect on a my week at Alaska West and the Kanektok River.  Over-all, it was an insane week of king fishing.  Every tide brought huge schools of giant chinooks in from the Bering Sea.  -To be blunt, we fucking whaled on 'em.  It wasn't uncommon to hook five to ten kings on a single day of fishing.  Plus, the XL fish showed up in mass.  It was everything you dream of when it comes to king salmon with two-handed rods.
