It’s the last day of my hosted trip to Andros South Lodge in the Bahamas… Time to break down the rods, back our bags and head for home. As I write this, I’m sitting on the beach reflecting on the whole experience. The week has been filled with epic moments and of course, bittersweet opportunities missed.
We’re halfway through a seven day Bahamas bonefish bender at Andros South and life is pretty darn good. Despite a front yesterday that made the fish a little funky, the fishing has been decent. At times, its been down right obscene. Plus, the big fish have been on the prowl. One angler in camp even managed to hang a 60 pound tarpon yesterday… Like I said, life is good.
I always tell people about the mega large bonefish that are an everyday possibility when you fish at Andros South Lodge in the Bahamas. You don't hook them everyday... Some days you never even see one over six pounds. Then there's few special days where the fish Gods smile on you. -The "Walter" above was Dick Fischer's second ten pounder of the day!
Preparing for a destination fly fishing trip is one of my favorite rituals... Tying the flies, spooling up reels, buying new toys. (Going on fishing trips somehow makes it easier to justify spending money on gear) I've got a brand spankin new Sage TCX 890-4 that wants to hunt.
My hosted trip to Andros South, land of "Walter the Bonefish", is almost full. There's two spots open for half the week for anyone interested in experiencing some of the best saltwater flats fishing in the world.
You'll arrive in Congo Town on 3/12, fish for three days and depart on 3/16.

I’ll be hosting my annual saltwater trip to Andros South Lodge in the Bahamas this year from March 8th through March 15th. Andros offers some of the worlds best flats fishing for big bonefish, monster barracuda and the occasional permit. All guests get their own air conditioned room and the trip includes all meals and alcohol. I only have six spots to fill this year and the trip is filling up quick! My 2012 hosted trip to Andros South Lodge in the Bahamas was an interesting one... The wind blew, the clouds persisted -but in the end, the group had a great time. It's hard not to at Andros South. The lodge staff is wonderful and the guides work their butts off to put you on fish. I can't wait to get back! Thanks to everyone that was on this years trip.
