Back in the States after a six day bonefish bender at Andros South lodge in the Bahamas. Overall, it was a great trip down south. It felt great to be immersed in the warm tropical weather of the Bahamas. On top of it, the group of anglers staying at the lodge was incredible. No egos, no "know-it-all anglers", just a wonderful group of folks having fun in a beautiful place.
Unfortunately, the fishing wasn't as spectacular as it usually is on Andros... A couple of big fronts slammed winds into the island which pushed the water off the flats. Consequently, the skinny water made the fish we did see awfully spooky. That said, we did have some epic days with anglers coming back to the lodge with tails of double digit days and big bones. I felt grateful to be fishing with the best guides on Andros given the tough conditions.
As a guide, I've always had the philosophy that while I can't control the weather or the attitude of the fish, I try to do the best with the things I can control. The guides and staff at Andros South follow that thought process as well. The food was great, the lodge was comfortable, and the guides never stopped working their butts off. At the end of the day, thats all you can ask for.
