Larimer's Bullet Head Golden Stone

Tail: Gold elk hair
Body: Trilobal dubbing, goldenstone
Hackle: Furnace saddle
Rib: Fine copper wire
Wing: Brown bear

About the Fly: I designed this fly for the Deschutes golden stone fly hatch,
though it has proven itself on many other rivers.  The bullet head and deer hair
tail design keeps the fly buoyant and durable.  However, the natural translucency
of the brown bear wing is what gives this fly it's mojo.

About the flies:  When stone fly nymphs drift down stream, they do so with their
butts down, head up.  The copper body keeps the fly oriented in this manner
during the drift.  I believe that is the reason these flies will out fish any other stone
fly nymphs in my box.
