the world famous Kanektok River next June. We had an incredible trip in 2009

The Kanektok is regarded as possibly the best place in the world to catch
Chinook salmon on the fly. This has both to do with the aggressive nature of the
fish and the river's incredible fly water. These fish are very accessible to the
swung fly. You will be using techniques very similar to our winter steelhead
methods. We even use the same style of flies. However, the fish average 18-22
pounds! Fish over 30 pounds are an everyday possibility.
Chinook salmon on the fly. This has both to do with the aggressive nature of the
fish and the river's incredible fly water. These fish are very accessible to the
swung fly. You will be using techniques very similar to our winter steelhead
methods. We even use the same style of flies. However, the fish average 18-22
pounds! Fish over 30 pounds are an everyday possibility.
We are headed up north for the week of June 11th to the 18th. This is one of the
best weeks because the biggest, hottest, brightest kings of the year flood into the
river. They are still full of the ocean and ready to attack any fly that swims past
them. To add on to the awesome King fishing there will also be some
opportunities for huge leopard rainbow trout with mouse, sculpin and leech
imitations as well! On our recent trip we fished the nearby Arolik River for one of
the days. We swung #4 and #5 weight two-handed rods for the river's greedy
trout. We were the first group of anglers on the river for the year. It was incredible!
